More Than a Museum

Our mission is to support the creation, sustainability, and growth of the National Coast Guard Museum.

The National Coast Guard Museum Association serves as a vital link between the Museum and its commitment to preserving and honoring the rich maritime heritage and courageous contributions of the U.S. Coast Guard.

As a non-profit, we provide essential support to foster public awareness and ensure the Museum’s continued growth—with the longer-term ambition of ranking among some of our Nation’s most valued museums.

Enhancing Our Community

Our mission extends beyond the walls of the Museum. We intend to help revitalize the historic New London Waterfront district, adding a unique, experiential destination to the area.

The Museum will serve as a catalyst for our local community, driving economic growth and business development to strengthen the surrounding areas in New London.

Through thematic museum exhibits, immersive experiences, and compelling storytelling, the National Coast Guard Museum will honor and celebrate the impact of the U.S. Coast Guard workforce. The Museum will inspire Americans to understand and embrace the U.S. Coast Guard contributions to security, democracy, and prosperity of the United States—and beyond.

• Creating a valuable resource to stimulate science, technology, engineering, and math (STEM)-based learning
• Providing educational programming for K-12 students

To honor those in active and inactive service, part of our mission includes efforts to educate visitors about the impact and history of the U.S. Coast Guard. We’ll also highlight the pride at the foundation of our service and demonstrate how we support workforce retention and recruitment.
